My LEGO Batman Tumbler 76023 UCS build

(Warning, picture intensive post!)

I finally got my hands on LEGO's new The (Batmobile) Tumbler kit! It's not available locally till next year - unless at really high mark-ups - and I got my set off e(vil)Bay. A pic of my kit below, still in its shipping packaging. The kit has, as the box states, 1869 pcs.

The LEGO Batman Tumbler UCS 76023.
Been waiting for a set like this to appear ever since the 2005 Batman Begins movie screened! There was even a really good looking Technic MOC by Michael Loh. Alas, building one on my own would prove to be really expensive with all the parts I'd have to buy to replicate it.

Michael Loh's really awesome looking Tumbler!
Without further ado, more pics of the Tumbler build:

With all the parts bags out.

Book 1 Build.

Cockpit build done. The computer screens are simulated with decals. The 3 blue fasteners near the front-sides hold the front wheel supports.

Can't forget the Tumbler's INTIMIDATE scene from the movie!

The rear wheel axle. No suspension pivots here...
 Book 2 Build.

Cockpit seats up and computer screens turned up to face the driver.

The propellant tanks. No working engine cylinders in that rear block.

End of Bag 2. Book 2 uses Bags 2 and 3.

The cockpit exterior taking shape.

Gauges for the propellant tanks.

Side window frame up. End of Book 2.
Book 3 Build.
Bag 4. Front windshield and roof frame up.

Roof frame done.
Bag 5 build. Front wheel supports. Again, no suspension here, though it might still be open for modification.

End of Book 3's build.
Book 4 Build.

Bag 6 build done for wheels, tyres and side window detail.

Bag 7 done. Sides of front wheel supports and side air intakes.

Close-up of side air intakes and rear wheel's fin.
End of Book 4. Additional detail for the angular side panels just in front of the huge rear wheels.

Looking very scale!
Book 5 Build.

Bag 10 done! Last bag to go. The rear "springs" are simulated with worm gears.
Done! Bag 11 contains parts for the Tumbler's wings.
Quite a satisfying build overall. Pretty easy and fast to assemble compared to LEGO's flagship Technic kits. Would be nice to have the suspension working or at least workable steering. Wonder if LEGO will make camouflage versions available next... Or a Technic one? Can't wait!

Batman meets his latest nemisis... Diaperpoopus!

My girl enjoying her first LEGO set. *cough cough*
